If you’re dreaming of deep powder, wild mountains, and a ski resort that’s still off the radar, Ak-Bulak is your next destination. Tucked away in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, not far from Karakol, Ak-Bulak is one of the three major peaks that will make up the Three Peaks Ski Resort—Central Asia’s most ambitious mountain tourism project. The construction of the ski resort will happen in the upcoming years, at the moment it’s just a tiny mountain village with stunning surroundings.

What’s in Ak-Bulak Right Now?

At this moment, Ak-Bulak is still a hidden gem. It’s a small, peaceful mountain village surrounded by raw, untouched alpine terrain. There are no lifts, no hotels, and no crowds—just vast backcountry slopes waiting to be discovered. Adventurous skiers already come here for guided ski touring, but they stay in nearby towns like Karakol or Jyrgalan since there are no guesthouses in Ak-Bulak yet.

That makes it special. This is a rare chance to experience the kind of remote beauty that ski resorts usually pave over. If you love the wild and are looking to see a ski destination rise from the mountains themselves, Ak-Bulak is the place to watch.

What Will Be Built in Ak-Bulak?

Ak-Bulak will be transformed into a modern ski destination—without losing its alpine soul. The plans include 13 ski lifts and over 50 km of ski trails, giving you access to deep runs, stunning vistas, and terrain for all skill levels.

A brand-new tourist village will offer accommodations for nearly 5,000 guests, with a mix of hotels, apartments, and local-style lodges. There will be an Expedition Tourism Center and Alpine Sports Base, making Ak-Bulak a hub for mountaineering, ski touring, and even summer mountain events. This isn’t just about skiing—it’s about year-round adventure.

And if you’re into events, Ak-Bulak will also host sports competitions and cultural festivals designed to draw travelers from around the world. Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, mountain runner, or just want a cozy cabin with fresh mountain air, Ak-Bulak is being built with you in mind.

When Can You Ski at Ak-Bulak?

Construction of the Ak-Bulak resort area is planned after as the last phase after Boz-Uchuk. While the first phase of the resort in Jyrgalan is expected to be completed by 2030, Ak-Bulak is set to be completed by 2040.

If you want to ski in Ak-Bulak you’ll have to wait some more years. Maybe some slopes will open before the resort is ready, but before that Jyrgalan will be the only option, the first slopes there are planned to open at the end of 2025. Once complete, Ak-Bulak will connect to Jyrgalan and Boz-Uchuk, forming one seamless alpine resort with 250 km of trails across all three peaks.
